JAMB: Board Delists 72 CBT Centres Over Attempted Rape Of Candidates
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has delisted 72 centres over extortion and attempted rape of candidates.
The Board’s Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede recently disclosed this at a meeting in Lagos with Computer Based Test centres owners.
Oloyede said the Board decided to delist the 72 CBT after discovering that their owners exploit some candidates and engage in some grievous acts including attempted rape in the last Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations.
“Some centres collected the sum of N1,000 from each candidate as entrance fee, while a worker in a particular centre attempted to rape a female candidate. We have delisted 72 of such fraudulent centres and banned some for life.
“We are dealing with the perpetrators at individual levels, such that they cannot even abandon the delisted centres to set up a new one in another name. We have sent their names to the Corporate Affairs Commission.”He said.
Oloyede also announced that JAMB made N100m from errors committed by candidates while filling application forms during the last UTME
