2026 WCQ: SUPER EAGLES TARGET FIRST WIN AGAINST BENIN REPUBLIC
The Super Eagles will be looking to record their first win in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series when they take on Benin Republic on Monday (today).
After three rounds of matches, the Super Eagles are yet to record a victory in Group C.
The West Africans started their campaign with a disappointing 1-1 home draw against Lesotho and followed it up with another 1-1 draw away to Zimbabwe on matchday two.
Last Friday’s stalemate with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa was their third in the group.
The Finidi George’s side now languish in fifth position in the pool.
The Super Eagles have a superior head-to-head record against Benin Republic.
The three-time African champions have only lost once in 16 meetings, with 13 wins and one draw.
They defeated the Cheetahs 1-0 the last time both teams met in March 2021.
