CONTINUATION OF TRIAL: BINANCE EXCUTIVE GAMBARYAN ARRIVES COURT IN WHEELCHAIR
On Tuesday, Tigran Gambaryan, the executive of Binance Holdings Limited, who is currently arrested, was wheeled before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Along with the cryptocurrency company, Gambaryan is accused of money laundering by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Gambaryan was clothed in a black T-shirt and blue jeans pants.
Gambaryan got up from the wheelchair and cautiously entered the dock when the matter was called.
Ogechi Ujam, an attorney for the EFCC, informed the court that although the case was set for trial continuation, Ekele Iheanacho, the commission’s main attorney, was not present.
In order to allow Iheanacho to conduct the trial, Ujam implored the court to put the matter on hold.
JUST IN: COURT REJECTS EMEFIELE’S APPLICATION TO TRAVEL ABROAD FOR MEDICAL CHECKUP
The application was not opposed by Mark Mordi, who represented Gambaryan, or Babatunde Fagbohunlu (SAN), the lawyer for Binance.
Emeka Nwite, the judge, resigned from the case.
On July 5, Justice Emeka Nwite gave the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) management an order to release Gambaryan’s medical certificate by July 16 at the latest.
The judge granted the injunction in response to a request from Gambaryan’s attorney.
In an earlier court order, Mordi had pleaded for the court to call the medical staff at Kuje Correctional Centre to account for the doctor’s claimed refusal to provide his client’s medical report.
