ATLEAST 17 KILLED, 34 INJURED IN AFGHAN BUS CRASH
Agency Report
On Tuesday, a bus in northern Afghanistan toppled, leaving at least 17 passengers dead and 34 injured.
A municipal authority made this revelation known.
Mustafa Hashemi, the director of information and culture for the province of Baghlan, told AFP that the accident happened on a roadway that connects the nation’s capital, Kabul, to the north of the state.
Twelve men, two women, and three children were among the deceased, he said.
Afghanistan has a high rate of traffic accidents, partly because of bad roads from years of conflict, reckless driving, and a lack of regulations.
In March, a bus crashed with an oil tanker and a motorbike in the Helmand province of southern Afghanistan, resulting in 21 fatalities and 38 injuries.
