
POLICE ARREST SUSPECTS FOR AIDING BANDITRY, RECOVER RUSTLED ANIMALS IN KATSINA
According to the Katsina State Police Command, it has recovered suspected livestock rustling and successfully arrested two suspects for aiding and abetting banditry through a prolonged joint operation.
The suspects, who were only named as 35-year-old Abubakar Yahaya and 25-year-old Muhammadu Ayatullahi, were taken into custody on Thursday along Magama Cemetery in Jibia LGA while in possession of two alleged stolen rams, a sheep, and a goat. They were residents of Zandam village in Jibia LGA of the state.
The suspects were apprehended by a group of police officers affiliated with the Jibia divisional police headquarters while on a routine patrol in cooperation with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) and Hunters at Jibia LGA, according to a statement signed on Thursday by the police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq.
During the course of the inquiry, he said, the two admitted to receiving the stolen animals from one Nura of Mazanya village, who is currently at large and is thought to be a notorious bandit leader. They are currently on their route to dispose of the animals at Magama Market, Jibia LGA.

He clarified that the accused have also admitted to receiving and disposing of allegedly rustled animals from the bandit kingpin on multiple occasions.
“Efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspect as the investigation proceeds”, the statement said.
