The Nigeria Police Force has released Ayoola Babalola, a journalist who was detained during the nationwide #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protests in Abuja.
The 25-year-old journalist was arrested on Saturday and detained at Wuye Police Station by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command.
Babalola was reportedly released about 3 p.m. on Sunday, following his arrest on Saturday.
“Yes, I have been released. I was released around 3 pm on today (Sunday). The detention lasted for over 24 hours, but I’m home now.
“I am grateful to all who led their voices calling for my release,” he said.
The Take-It-Back Movement, a civil society movement, verified Babalola’s arrest in a circular and urged his immediate release.
