Having frequent sex is like earning extra N15m annually —Study
Instead of stressing yourself desperately trying to get a raise, you might as well just take an extra-long lunch break, go home, and have sex. You’ll be just as happy.
That’s according to a new study from the University of Toronto, anyway.
Their research proposes that having frequent sex makes people just as happy as a $50,000 a year salary increment.
The study was made up of a number of experiments.
First off, 335 coupled-up people were asked about how frequently they had sex, their life satisfaction, and how often they cuddled, kissed, and held hands.
As the Science of Us notes, both frequency of sex and frequency in affectionate touch were linked to feeling more satisfied in life.
A second experiment followed 106 Swiss couples, and found that the more sex a couple had over a 10-day period, the happier they were six months later.
So, having sex frequently means you’re likelier to have a happier relationship.
But it’s important to note that with studies like this, it’s very tricky to pin down cause and effect.
Surely, people who are happier in their relationships are more likely to be having sex and getting all affectionate. Surely, having sex is likely to bring you closer, strengthening the relationship as a result.
It’s not as simple as ‘start having sex at least once a week for guaranteed happiness’. It’s about knowing that frequent sex plays a part in making us happier, and that affection is key to a happy, healthy relationship.
So, you might not want to quit your job, actually. Just try to make sure you’re having sex now and then, too.
