SECURITY: TROOPS NEUTRALISE 65 TERRORIST KINGPINS, 1,937 OTHERS IN THIRD QUARTER
According to the Defence Headquarters, troops from the Armed Forces and other security agencies neutralised 1,937 terrorists in the third quarter of this year, arrested 2,782 suspects, and rescued 1,854 kidnapped hostages, while 65 terrorist commanders were killed on the battlefield.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, stated at a news conference in Abuja on Thursday that the offensive actions resulted in the neutralisation of several notable terrorist leaders, commanders, and combatants, including Munzir Arika, Sani Dilla (Dan Hausawan Jubillaram), Ameer Modu, Matawal Bitrus, Thomas Benedict, Mohammed Sani, Rimamy (aka Omo), Terkimbi Injoko, Jacob Uzege, and Ibn Kasir.
Others who were neutralised are Kachalla Dan Baleri, Kachallah Halilu (Buzu), Kachalla Dan Ali Garin Fadama, Kachalla Basiru Zakarriya, and Ofem Emmanuel Igwe.
He also revealed that forces recovered 1,304 firearms and 43,347 rounds of ammunition, denying the oil thieves an estimated N13 billion (N13,081,605,534).
General Buba stated that with the military’s assistance from state governments, troops will continue to escalate the war against terrorists and violent extremists until they are fully defeated.
