
SENATE CONFIRMS IYANTAN’S APPOINTMENT AS NPC COMMISSIONER
Mrs. Olukemi Victoria Iyantan, who represents Ondo State, was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday as a Commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC).
The confirmation came after its National Identity Card, and the National Population Committee considered a recommendation to that effect.
Senator Abdul Ningi, Chairman of the Committee, who submitted the report, stated that based on the credentials provided to the committee and the presidential nominee’s public service pedigree, she is qualified for the job.
The upper legislative body cleared the South West Development Bill for a third reading on Thursday, following a report provided by Kaka Shehu Lawan, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Special Duties.
He said, “If the commission is established through presidential assent, it will like other development-driven commissions receive funds from the federation account, donations from development partners, etc, to address infrastructural deficits and tackle ecological problems in the region”.
