SHEHU SANI REACTS TO N1050 FUEL PRICE, SAYS DANGOTE REFINERY WAS EXPECTED LOWER COST
Shehu Sani, the former Senator for Kaduna Central, expressed disappointment on Saturday over the fuel price increase by Dangote Refinery.
He pointed out that Nigerians had hoped the refinery would lower fuel prices, making the rise in prices confusing.
Posting on X, Sani wrote: “The expectation was that Dangote Refinery will crash the price of petrol; the news that it’s increasing is baffling.”
On Friday, Dangote Petroleum Refinery confirmed that the price of PMS has risen for its customers.
The refinery announced that its refined products would now be sold at N955 per litre at the loading gantry.
Marketers purchasing between 2 million and 4.99 million litres will pay N955 per litre, while those buying 5 million litres or more will pay N950 per litre.
This marks a N55.5 or 6.17% increase from the N899.50 per litre set last December.
The notice read: “Kindly be advised that effective from 5:30 PM today, an upward adjustment has been implemented on the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit.”
Following the announcement, the retail price of petrol increased to between N1030 and N1,050 per litre.
