TROOPS CONFRONT TERRORIST IN A BRUTAL EXCHANGE OF GUNFIRE TO THWART THE GWOZA INCURSION

Forces involved in Operation Hadin Kai are presently participating in an intense firefight with armed insurgents believed to be Boko Haram/ISWAP combatants in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Gwoza, situated approximately 136 kilometers from Maiduguri, adjoins the Mandara Mountains in Cameroon and the Sambisa Forest — infamous sanctuaries for insurgents.

As per reports, the assailants initiated an attempted incursion into Gwoza town shortly following Friday Jummat prayers. Inhabitants conveyed extensive gunfire and numerous detonations in various sections of the town as military forces orchestrated a robust and strategic counteraction to thwart the offensive.

Security operatives are said to be working relentlessly to safeguard lives and property in the area, with reinforcements reportedly deployed to support ongoing operations
