Nottingham Forest striker and Nigerian international, Taiwo Awoniyi, has resumed full training after recovering from a serious abdominal injury he sustained in May.
The 27-year-old was sidelined due to a ruptured intestine that required a two-stage surgical procedure.
As earlier reported by HOTJIST in May, the initial surgery was followed by an induced coma to allow doctors to monitor his condition closely.
The second phase of the operation, which involved wound closure, was successfully carried out three days later.
Following the challenging recovery period, Awoniyi has now rejoined his teammates in training for the first time since May.
A post from Soar Super Eagles on Tuesday via X announced his return, stating, “Taiwo Awoniyi returns to full training after that serious abdominal injury in May. Great to see him back on the grass.”
Awoniyi’s recovery is a significant boost for both Nottingham Forest and the Super Eagles as the new season approaches.
