The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the resolution of the technical glitch that affected the release of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, assuring the public of its unwavering commitment to examination integrity.

According to a statement signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations, the glitch occurred during post-release processing, particularly in subjects with newly introduced paper serialization a WAEC security measure. It was promptly addressed after a full briefing of the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa.

The Ministry commended the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for its swift and professional handling of the issue, confirming that updated results will be accessible on the result checker portal within 24 hours.

Dr. Alausa reiterated that safeguarding exam credibility is central to the Ministry’s reform agenda, which includes a phased rollout of Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for WAEC and the National Examinations Council (NECO) starting November 2026. This move, he said, is aimed at curbing malpractice, preventing leakages, and restoring public confidence in Nigeria’s examination system.

The Ministry pledged to continue working with WAEC, NECO, and other stakeholders to ensure that assessments reflect the true abilities of Nigerian students, sustaining the nation’s global reputation for academic excellence.
