GUNMEN ABDUCT FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE STAFF IN ONDO

Gunmen have abducted a staff member of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, Mr. Ayodeji Akesinro, throwing the Upenme community in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State into panic.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Thursday when the victim was seized at his residence.

Confirming the development on Friday, the State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, said operatives of the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, had launched a manhunt for the abductors to secure the victim’s release.

“Our men are currently inside the bush in collaboration with other sister security agencies to rescue the victim,” the CP stated.

Lawal assured residents that the police remained committed to ensuring safety and security across the state, adding that community policing efforts were being intensified to tackle criminal activities.

He vowed that the perpetrators would be brought to justice while reiterating the command’s resolve to guarantee that “citizens of Ondo State sleep with their two eyes closed.”
