BREAKING: OWORONSHOKI RESIDENTS BLOCK 3RD MAINLAND BRIDGE OVER ONGOING DEMOLITION (VIDEO)

Residents of Oworonshoki, Lagos, on Monday staged a protest against the ongoing demolition of houses in their community by the Lagos State Government.
The protesters, who blocked the Oworonshoki axis of the 3rd Mainland Bridge, vowed not to vacate the road until all demolition equipment, including caterpillars, were withdrawn and the exercise was halted.
The demonstration comes in the wake of fresh demolitions carried out on Saturday, September 6, 2025, which left many families displaced.

Chanting solidarity songs, the residents described the demolition as “unlawful and inhumane,” accusing the government of failing to provide alternative housing or compensation before pulling down their homes.
The protest caused traffic gridlock along the busy highway, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes.

Community leaders warned that the exercise could escalate tensions if authorities fail to address their concerns.
As of press time, it was gathered that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh has arrived at the scene with a team of security operatives to engage the protesters and restore calm.
