Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night television program has been suspended “indefinitely” following criticism directed at the host regarding remarks about the motivations behind the assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, according to ABC.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live will be preempted indefinitely,” an ABC representative informed AFP, employing a term from the television industry to indicate when a show is replaced or removed from the schedule.

Kirk, a close associate of President Donald Trump, was fatally shot last week during a speaking engagement on a university campus in Utah.

Authorities reported that 22-year-old Tyler Robinson utilized a rifle to shoot Kirk with a single bullet to the neck from a rooftop. He has been apprehended and officially charged with murder.

On Monday, Kimmel addressed the shooting in his widely viewed late-night program’s monologue.

“We reached some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA faction keenly attempting to portray this individual who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of their own and doing everything they can to gain political advantages from it,” Kimmel remarked.

“MAGA” refers to the president’s “Make America Great Again” initiative.
