Paul Ibe, Media Advisor to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, asserts that his principal merits consideration for a Nobel Prize due to his persistent endeavors to attain the presidency of Nigeria.

Atiku, who has pursued the presidential candidacy since 1992, remains a topic of discussion for the 2027 presidential election, although the former Vice President has not yet officially declared his intentions regarding the upcoming electoral contest.

During an appearance on Trust TV’s ‘Daily Politics’ on Thursday, Ibe rejected the assertion that Atiku has run for the presidency an excessive number of times.

He stated, “Atiku Abubakar has been on the ballot three times for the record. That was in 2007 under the AC, 2019, PDP and 2023, PDP. So, it’s actually three times. ”

When confronted with the claim that Atiku has sought the candidacy five times—specifically in 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023— Ibe remarked, “Atiku Abubakar should get a Nobel Prize for that,” adding that “The former Vice President feels that he has something to offer.”

Ibe articulated that Atiku feels a sense of duty to Nigeria, acknowledging that the “nation has bestowed much upon him.”

He elaborated, “Don’t forget, you’ve read his books. What he has said about his life, the man feels obligated to Nigeria that has given him so much; an opportunity for education when he was young; an opportunity to work in the customs. And after he left the customs, the man went into business, had a foresight about the direction that Nigeria was going to and set up oil and gas logistics company.”

Ibe underscored that Atiku was already a billionaire prior to his ascension to Nigeria’s Vice Presidency in 1999. He noted that his principal independently acquired Wadata Plaza for the PDP.

Wadata Plaza, situated in Abuja, serves as the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party.
