Messi On Target As Barca Ease Past Athletic Bilbao
Lionel Messi scored his 25th LaLiga goal of the season as Barcelona extended their unbeaten run in the Spanish in the league this campaign to 29 games on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao at Camp Nou.
Barcelona are now leading the log with 11 points ahead of second-placed Atletico Madrid who play later on Sunday.
Paco Alcacer gave Barcelona an early lead in the eighth minute before Messi struck the second goal of the game in the 30th minute.
Barcelona had so many chances to score more in the first half, with Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho hitting the woodwork and Ousmane Dembele going close and causing Athletic Bilbao defence so many problems.
Argentina captain Messi had another chance in stoppage time but he lacked a precise finish as his shot from close range went slightly wide.
Barcelona are still in contention for a treble this season.
