The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to adopt environmental protection and cleanliness as a shared societal responsibility, stressing the importance of clean and sustainable energy for the nation’s future.

Tinubu made the call in Abuja on Monday in a message to mark the 2026 International Day of Clean Energy, themed “Clean Energy for People and Planet.” She said the occasion serves as a reminder of the collective duty of citizens to protect and preserve the environment for present and future generations.

According to her, the adoption of renewable energy and sustainable technologies is critical to survival, healthy living, and responsible environmental stewardship.

“I urge us all to embrace renewable energy and sustainable technologies as an essential foundation for survival, healthy living, and environmental stewardship. Let us work together to build a greener, healthier planet for all,” the First Lady said.

She also extended her goodwill message to Nigerians on the International Day of Clean Energy.

The International Day of Clean Energy is observed annually on January 26 and was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly through resolution A/77/327. The day is aimed at raising awareness and mobilising global action towards a just and inclusive transition to clean energy for the benefit of people and the planet.
