An Abuja-based music talent, Ifunanya Nwangene, has died after she was bitten by a snake.

Nwangene, a soprano singer with the Amemuso Choir, passed away on Saturday at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja.

Her death was confirmed by the Amemuso Choir in a statement issued on Sunday afternoon and signed by its Music Director, Sam Ezugwu.

“We regret to announce the sudden demise of our beloved soprano, Ifunanya Nwangene, who passed away yesterday, 31st January 2026, at the Federal Medical Centre due to a snake bite,” the statement partly read.

The choir described the incident as a major loss to Abuja’s growing music scene, noting that the late singer was on the verge of sharing her talent with a wider audience.

“A rising star, Ifunanya was on the cusp of sharing her incredible talent with the world.

“Her voice and spirit will be deeply missed,” the statement added, while indicating that burial arrangements would be announced later.
