The Nigerian Defence Academy has alerted the public about a fraudulent invitation letter allegedly sent to an individual named Abubakar Washima, claiming he had been selected for admission.
The academy confirmed on Saturday via its X handle that the letter is fake and did not originate from the NDA. Major Reuben Kovangiya, the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, stated, “The Nigerian Defence Academy wishes to inform the general public that the purported invitation letter addressed to one Abubakar Washima informing him of being selected into the NDA, is fake and did not originate from the NDA.”
The NDA emphasised that official invitation letters for screening or admission are only released in national newspapers and on the NDA’s official website. The public was strongly advised to exercise caution and disregard suspicious correspondence.
The academy further urged anyone who encounters dubious documents or activities to report them through official NDA direct messaging channels for verification, reinforcing the importance of obtaining admission information solely from authorised sources.
“This warning is issued to protect prospective candidates from scams and to ensure that all admission information is verified through official NDA channels,” the statement added.
