Reports in Turkey have alleged that Galatasaray are struggling to meet players’ salary obligations, including that of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, due to a bloated wage bill. However, sources within the Istanbul club have dismissed the claims, insisting the forward remains happy.

Turkish daily Hürriyet reported that some players have not been paid for two to three months. The report surfaced after Galatasaray’s 2–0 away defeat to Konyaspor, days after a 5–2 home win over Juventus, raising questions over team selection.

According to the publication, Osimhen — who reportedly earns €15m net per year — had yet to receive his January and February salaries. The striker missed the Konyaspor clash due to a knee problem but is expected to travel for the UEFA Champions League knockout play-off second leg against Juventus in Turin.

Osimhen is currently the highest-paid player in the Turkish Super Lig, ahead of Ederson of Fenerbahçe (€11m) and teammate Leroy Sané (€9m). Other top earners include Milan Škriniar, Marco Asensio, and Mauro Icardi.

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk recently acknowledged the club’s rising wage and transfer expenditure, noting that significant investments had been made in strengthening the squad.

Despite the speculation, club insiders have rejected claims of unpaid wages or unrest. Arda Özkurt described reports that Osimhen was unhappy or unpaid as “completely baseless.” Journalist Haluk Yürekli also stated that while the wage bill is high, there is no inability to pay salaries, and financial matters were unrelated to the defeat against Konyaspor.

Another source, Nevzat Dindar, dismissed suggestions that Osimhen had issued warning letters over delayed payments, while Erdem Açıkgöz revealed that the striker had already received his €6m image rights income from advertising revenue.

Osimhen returned to training on Monday as Galatasaray prepare for Wednesday’s decisive Champions League clash against Juventus, amid assurances from club sources that there is “no extraordinary problem” surrounding the Nigerian forward.
