LALIGA: XAVI EXPLAINS WHY MESSI WILL NOT RETURN TO BARCELONA

Former Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandez, has dismissed the possibility of Lionel Messi making a return to the Spanish club.
Speaking to La Vanguardia, Xavi claimed that Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, is not interested in bringing the Argentine forward back to Camp Nou.
“Leo Messi will never return to Barcelona because Laporta does not want that,” he said.
Xavi also maintained that LaLiga did not prevent Messi from returning to the club and that the player’s camp did not make excessive financial demands.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta approved Messi’s departure from the club in August 2021 after both parties were unable to reach an agreement on a new contract.
The Argentine forward subsequently left as a free agent and joined Paris Saint-Germain before later moving to Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
