2027 ELECTIONS: APC FIXES MAY 2026 FOR PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY, SCREENING DATES

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its timetable for the 2027 general elections, setting its presidential primary for May 15 and 16, 2026.
According to the schedule signed on Monday by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms will run from April 25 to May 2, 2026, at the party’s national secretariat. Submission of completed forms is set to close on May 4.
The party fixed the cost of its presidential forms at ₦100 million, broken down into ₦30 million for expression of interest and ₦70 million for nomination. Governorship aspirants will pay ₦50 million, while Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly forms are priced at ₦20 million, ₦10 million, and ₦6 million respectively.

Screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 6 to May 8, with results to be released on May 11. Appeals will follow between May 12 and May 13.
Presidential primaries will hold on May 15 and 16, while primaries for the House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and State House of Assembly are slated for May 18, May 20, May 21, and May 23 respectively. All election-related appeals are expected to be concluded by May 25.
The timetable shows that the entire primary process will be completed within eight days.
The APC also introduced concessions for female aspirants, youths, and persons with disabilities, who are required to pay only the expression of interest fee and 50 percent of the nomination fee.
The party stated that the schedule complies with the Nigerian Constitution, the Electoral Act, and guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
