The Federal Government has filed a 13-count charge before the Federal High Court in Abuja against alleged plotters of a coup against President Bola Tinubu.

The suspects include a retired Major-General, a retired naval captain, a serving police inspector, and three others.

This follows the conclusion of investigations by Nigerian security agencies into an alleged plot to violently overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Reports indicate that 40 suspects were identified in connection with the alleged conspiracy.

Out of these, 16 military officers were arrested for their alleged direct involvement, while two civilians were picked up for reconnaissance activities. Another two were accused of being recruited to incite civil disobedience as a pretext for the coup, and five others were linked to suspected funding channels.
