Davido has been appointed as the Head of Youth Mobilisation for the re-election campaign of Ademola Adeleke ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
The Afrobeats star announced the development on Tuesday via his X account, expressing enthusiasm about taking on a role within his uncle’s campaign structure.

He wrote, “I have been appointed by the Governor of OSUN STATE @AAdeleke_01 and flag bearer of the ACCORD PARTY as HEAD YOUTH MOBILIZATION OF CAMPAIGN COUNCIL!
“We look forward to a smooth campaign and you RE-ELECTION Your Excellency! 4+4.”
The development comes as political activities intensify ahead of the August 2026 Osun governorship election, in which Adeleke is seeking a second term
Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, is the nephew of Adeleke, a relationship that has often translated into public political support over the years.

His latest appointment adds to his growing involvement in Osun State politics. In 2025, the singer was also named Chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund, a role designed to attract investment into sports development in the state.
The singer has repeatedly leveraged his platform to back his uncle’s political engagements, with both maintaining a visible public alliance during election periods and governance initiatives.
The Osun State governorship election is slated for August 8, 2026, as political parties intensify early mobilisation ahead of the campaign season.
His appointment is expected to boost youth participation in the campaign, particularly among his large youthful fanbase in Nigeria and the diaspora.
