THIEVES BURGLE FG STAFF BUSES IN SULEJA, STEAL BRAIN BOXES FROM SEVEN VEHICLES
Agency Report

The buses used in conveying staff of Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have been burgled by unidentified thieves at the Suleja Local Government Area Secretariat.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), brain boxes of seven staff buses were stolen on Sunday in the incident, which has since been reported to the Suleja Divisional Police Headquarters.
The affected buses belong to several agencies, including the News Agency of Nigeria, the Federal Ministries of Agriculture, Budget and National Planning, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, the Sharia Court of Appeal (FCT), the Office of the Head of Service, and the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.
The buses are usually parked at the secretariat by staff who commute daily from Suleja to Abuja for safety reasons.
A driver with the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Jimah Umar, said he discovered the theft early on Sunday morning while preparing his vehicle for use.
“We came out this morning to take our vehicle for repairs and discovered that somebody had broken into it. It was the brain box that was removed,” he said.
Similarly, Amos Amodu, driver with the Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission and secretary of the Suleja Staff Buses Association, confirmed that multiple vehicles were affected.
“I got a call that the brain box of a vehicle had been removed. On arrival, we discovered many agencies’ buses were affected,” he said.
Other drivers raised concerns over repeated theft incidents at the secretariat, noting that the problem had escalated since September 2025. A driver with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Joel Arenkhanda, said earlier complaints included stolen fuel, wheel spanners, jacks, and tyres.
He added that while the parking arrangement had been in place since 2015 without major incidents, recent months had seen a rise in criminal activity.
Security personnel on duty at the time said they were unaware of the theft, suggesting it may have occurred during heavy rainfall and strong winds on Saturday night.
The police in Suleja have since commenced investigations into the incident.
