NGE ACCUSES NASS OF BEING ANTI-PRESS
Joseph Omoniyi
The Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE has accused the National Assembly of being anti-press and anti-people.
In a statement released by the officials of the Guild this morning, NGE rejected the new accreditation guidelines for media organisations by the Senate.
The guidelines issued by the Senate which are due to take effect from June 11, 2019, demand among other provisions that, any media organisation wishing to be accredited for the coverage of the NASS activities will have to submit a copy of its income tax returns for the last 2 years.
The Guild kicking against this gesture, stated that it is a vexatious attempt to gag the press.
