ARMY RESCUES TWO KIDNAP VICTIMS IN KWARA OPERATION

Troops of the Nigerian Army attached to the Joint Task Force (JTF) North Central, Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, have rescued two kidnap victims during a security operation in Kwara State.

The Army disclosed this in a statement shared on its official X handle on Saturday, describing the rescue as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal activities across the North Central region.

According to the statement, troops deployed at Patrol Base Babasango successfully secured the freedom of the victims during a fighting patrol along the Gidan Dogo Ekaa axis on June 3, 2026.

The Army said the victims were found after escaping from their abductors and were immediately taken into military custody for protection.

“In a decisive demonstration of operational effectiveness, troops of JTF North Central Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD rescued two civilians from the custody of kidnappers in Kwara State,” the statement said.

The rescued victims were identified as 42-year-old Temitope Samuel and 40-year-old Mohammed Sani.

Military authorities said both men were transferred to Patrol Base Babanla, where they are receiving medical treatment, psychological care and other forms of support following their ordeal.

The Army added that efforts were underway to reunite the victims with their families and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations against criminal groups.

It also called on members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist security agencies in combating insecurity across the region.
