Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of contributing significantly to the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying he eventually left the party’s “carcass” for him to manage.

Fayose made the remarks during an appearance on TVC’s Politics Tonight, where he attributed Makinde’s political challenges to what he described as the governor’s “inordinate ambition.”

According to Fayose, members of the PDP’s G-5 group went into the 2023 general elections together, but internal disagreements eventually created divisions within the party.

He questioned the circumstances that led to the collapse of the group’s unity and the current political positions of Makinde and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Fayose also recalled an alleged conversation with Makinde after seeing a campaign flyer promoting the Oyo governor for the presidency.

He said Makinde dismissed the campaign as the work of individuals seeking financial gains and assured him that if he intended to contest for president, he would make the decision public himself.

Fayose further claimed that Makinde had told him he would not allow himself to be used against President Bola Tinubu, particularly as a fellow Yoruba man.

The former Ekiti governor also alleged that Makinde took control of the PDP structure in Ekiti State away from him and handed it to individuals he declined to name.

Fayose said the development prompted him to withdraw from the party’s internal affairs, adding that he subsequently left what remained of the PDP structure for Makinde.
