Lionel Messi extended his extraordinary FIFA World Cup scoring streak to nine straight matches after netting in Argentina’s thrilling 3-2 comeback win over Egypt on Tuesday.

The Argentina captain has now scored 21 World Cup goals during his illustrious career, strengthening his record as the tournament’s all-time leading scorer.

Messi played a pivotal role in Argentina’s dramatic fightback after the defending champions fell 2-0 behind with just over 20 minutes remaining in the Round of 16 encounter.
