A clearing agent, Agoro Moninuola, has been arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency before a Federal High Court in Lagos over the alleged attempted exportation of 2.80 kilograms of cocaine to the United Kingdom through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.
Moninuola was arraigned on Tuesday before Justice Daniel Osiagor on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, unlawful procurement, and exportation of narcotic drugs.
The NDLEA prosecutor, Arit Okon, told the court that the defendant allegedly conspired with two individuals identified as Azeez Nurudeen and Nuru, who are currently at large, to traffic the illicit substance in April 2026.
She further told the court that the cocaine consignment was concealed and intercepted during an outward examination of cargo at the SAHCO Export Shed within the customs area of the airport before it could be shipped to the United Kingdom.
According to the prosecution, the defendant also allegedly procured the services of logistics operators to facilitate the exportation of the narcotics.
The offences, the court heard, contravene Sections 14(b), 21(2)(d), and 11(b) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Moninuola, however, pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Following his plea, the prosecution urged the court to remand him in custody, while the defence counsel, Chief Benson Ndakara, moved a bail application on behalf of the defendant.
The NDLEA opposed the application through a counter-affidavit, asking the court to refuse bail.
In his ruling, Justice Osiagor granted the defendant bail in the sum of N10 million with one surety in like sum, after considering arguments from both parties.
The case was adjourned until October 28, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
