President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to leave Abuja on Saturday, May 2, for a multi-country trip to France, Kenya, and Rwanda.

The announcement was made on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, Tinubu’s first destination will be France before proceeding to Nairobi, where he is expected to participate in the upcoming Africa-France Summit.

The summit, jointly hosted by President Emmanuel Macron and President William Ruto, will focus on key issues such as energy transition, green industrialisation, digital innovation, reforms to global financing systems, and climate action.

Tinubu’s attendance at the May 11–12 summit is expected to reinforce Nigeria’s commitment to deepening partnerships with African countries and the French government.

Held under the theme “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the gathering will bring together African and French leaders to discuss matters including economic development, climate resilience, infrastructure, youth empowerment, technology, and peacebuilding efforts.

Following the summit in Kenya, the Nigerian president will travel to Kigali for the annual Africa CEO Forum, scheduled for May 14–15.

This year’s forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is expected to attract private-sector executives, investors, and policymakers from across the continent to explore strategies for accelerating economic transformation through regional cooperation and cross-border investment.

Organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the forum will host more than 2,000 business leaders and government representatives discussing ways to build competitive and resilient industries.

During both engagements, Tinubu is expected to present his administration’s economic reform agenda aimed at positioning Nigeria as a preferred destination for investment and business growth.

He is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with leading African and international business executives. The president will be accompanied by several ministers and senior government officials and is expected to return to Nigeria after the Rwanda summit.
