Security forces in Tripoli, Libya, have arrested two Nigerian nationals in the coastal town of Qarabouli over allegations of sharing inciting content on social media.
According to The Libya Observer, the suspects were detained on Wednesday for allegedly distributing videos and other online materials described by authorities as inflammatory and capable of encouraging violence and criminal activity.
Officials said the content violated Libyan laws and posed a threat to public order and national stability.
Authorities confirmed that the individuals have been formally charged, with initial legal procedures already completed.
The suspects have since been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office for further investigation and possible prosecution under Libyan criminal law.
While their identities were not disclosed, the incident underscores growing concerns in Libya over the use of social media, as authorities continue to strengthen surveillance of online content considered a security risk.
