ZELENSKY WARNS OF ‘MASSIVE NEW STRIKE’ AS RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR ESCALATES
Agency Report

Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that Russia is preparing a “massive new strike” against Ukraine, urging citizens to remain vigilant and heed air raid alerts as fears grow over a fresh wave of attacks.
The warning comes days after Kyiv endured one of the largest Russian bombardments since the start of Moscow’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
In a message shared on social media on Friday, Zelensky said Ukrainian intelligence had received information indicating that Russia was planning another major assault.
“We have intelligence information about Russia preparing a new massive strike,” Zelensky said.
“Please pay attention to air alerts, protect your lives. Our services are working efficiently and are prepared; the Air Force and other defenders of our skies will be on duty 24/7, as always.”
The alert follows heightened tensions after Russia threatened to intensify attacks on Kyiv in response to a Ukrainian strike on a dormitory and vocational school in the Russian-occupied Luhansk region. Moscow claimed the attack left 21 people dead.
As Russian air attacks continue to intensify, Zelensky renewed his appeal to international allies for additional air defence systems, particularly Patriot missile batteries capable of intercepting ballistic missiles.
The Ukrainian leader recently wrote to Donald Trump and members of the U.S. Congress, requesting increased support and funding for Patriot missile systems to strengthen Ukraine’s air defences.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has also increased strikes on Russian territory and occupied regions, describing the actions as retaliation for persistent Russian bombardments.
Efforts led by the United States to broker a ceasefire or negotiated settlement have reportedly slowed in recent weeks, as Washington’s attention has shifted toward the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The war, now in its fifth year since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in 2022, continues to exact a heavy toll on both sides, with no immediate breakthrough in peace negotiations.
