Buhari orders for arrest, prosecution of suspected killer herdsmen

The President made the statement while speaking in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State during the commissioning of projects at Lafia Special School, the State Fire Service, Kwandere Health facility and the Muhammadu Buhari International Market, Karu.
According to the President, the government will not tolerate the indiscriminate possession of arms illegally in the country.
Buhari who condoled with victims of herdsmen/farmers attacks assured that the government is working round the clock to restore peace and normalcy in the affected areas.
The President also commended Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura for initiating the Lafia Comprehensive School to cater for special students who have been neglected by previous governments.
President Buhari said Al-makura’s giant strides on infrastructure further buttress the determination of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to better the lives of the common Nigerian.
He directed the Ministry of Education to synergies with other states to draw out a programme to better the lives of people living with a disability.
Speaking earlier, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State, said the special school was constructed in line with the state government quest to ensure inclusiveness in governance.
“We have opened vistas of opportunities for the vulnerable members of the society especially the disabled, hence the Comprehensive Special School you are about to commission – will concentrate on providing individual care to children with learning difficulties.
“These special needs include vision impairment(blind), Hard of Hearing (deaf), physically challenged (cripple) and those without Cerebral Palsy (autism/down syndrome).
Al-makura added that in order to ensure maximum benefit and inclusiveness, the state government has made their education free, right from primary to tertiary level.
He stated that the gesture is aimed at removing the burden of educational expenses of the parents of the children.
The governor informed that “the Comprehensive Special School, Lafia plans to be affiliated with world renown centres of excellence for People with Disability like the Gallaudet University and Perkins University, the USA amongst others where our children would benefit from intellectual resources and global best practices of seasoned professionals on disability management and education”.
He added that the Nasarawa State Comprehensive Special School is equipped with modern facilities to ease teaching and learning of the children with special needs.
He disclosed that “we have also recruited the desired manpower with requisite qualification and disposition to teach in these schools which are also replicated in Gudi and Keffi”.
