The Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB) hosted a critical stakeholder engagement with its strategic partners on the 7th of February 2024 at the Marriott Hotel Ikeja.

The event, themed: “Strengthening the Capacity of the Primary Health Care System Through Efficient Partners’ Support”, was aimed at solidifying collaboration and enhancing healthcare delivery, particularly for residents at the grassroots level.

In his welcome address, Permanent Secretary of the LSPHCB, Dr. Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustafa emphasised the engagement’s focus on ensuring effective coordination of partner support and funding. This collaborative approach, encompassing the entire project lifecycle from planning to implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, aims to significantly improve the health and well-being of Lagosians, with a specific focus on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health Plus Nutrition (RMNCAH-N), Data Management, Research, Demand Generation and Quality Improvement.

“This engagement serves as a testament to our unwavering commitment to fostering a collaborative ecosystem that facilitates a seamless flow of resources, knowledge, and expertise, ultimately bolstering the Primary Health Care system”. Dr. Mustafa stated.

He further highlighted how the programme aligns with the current administration’s shared vision of achieving Sustainable Development Goal 17, which emphasises partnerships for the goals.

The engagement witnessed partners reflecting on their key activities and achievements in 2023, challenges encountered, and revised programme scopes for 2024. This facilitated open dialogue and ensured alignment with the overarching goals of strengthening the primary healthcare system.

Present were the Permanent Secretaries of the Lagos Health Districts, Development and Implementing Partners: United States Agency for International Development Youth-Powered Ecosystem for Adolescent Health (USAID-YPE4AH), Centre for Integrated Health Programmes (CIHP), WHO, UNFPA, UNICEF and a host of other partners as well as Heads of Directorates, Programme Officers and other stakeholders.

It must be noted that the Lagos State Government recognises the invaluable contributions of its partners in propelling the Primary Healthcare System forward as this engagement signifies a strong commitment to collaborative efforts that will deliver tangible improvements in the health and well-being of all Lagosians.
