Along the Onne estuary, there have been fears of seven maritime passengers being abducted.

It was discovered that the event happened on Monday when a few gullible tourists embarked on a boat trip to Port Harcourt.

On Tuesday, the event was confirmed by the Rivers State Police Command.

Twenty people were on board the boat, according to Rivers State Police Command Grace Iringe-Koko, the public relations officer, over the phone.

“Yes the O.C Marine informed me that a boat carrying 20 passengers from Bonny to Onne was intercepted by daredevil sea pirates along the Onne River where they were robbed before 7 of them were abducted and taken to an unknown destination,” she said.

Whether the seven abduction victims were chosen at random or as a specific target is still unknown. The Rivers State Police Command, however, stated that they are looking into the matter and will provide further details as needed.
