CP Jimoh gave the assurance on Thursday while receiving Comptroller Mohammed S. Shuaibu, the Customs Area Controller of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘A’, during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.

While welcoming the delegation, the Commissioner described the NCS as a strategic partner and emphasized that the longstanding cooperation between both agencies would not only be sustained but further strengthened.

”There’s no doubt that we’ve been working together over the years to ensure we’re on the same page to achieve the same objective, which is ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians.

“We have been working closely with your predecessors, and there will be no missing link. What you have sought today, consider it granted,” Jimoh said.

He emphasized the importance of sustained inter-agency cooperation, especially in Lagos, which he described as a critical hub requiring coordinated efforts to ensure public safety.

”Lagos state is a Centre of Excellence, we have to be on the same page to key-in to that excellence in the state,” he noted.

Jimoh welcomed the visit and expressed appreciation for the Customs Service’s continued support and cooperation.

He assured the Comptroller of the Police Command’s readiness to partner more closely on joint operations, intelligence gathering, and strategic planning.

In his remarks, Comptroller Shuaibu noted that the visit was aimed at reinforcing the partnership between the two agencies and boosting joint efforts in combating crime and securing lives and property.

He emphasized the importance of synergy between the Police and Customs in combating economic crimes, smuggling, and other trans-border criminal activities.

“We are here to synergise and collaborate in the interest of national security. The Nigeria Customs Service and the Police Force must continue to work hand in hand to secure the only country we call home,” he said.

Shuaibu also noted that the Customs Police Unit was established to monitor officers’ conduct and handle internal investigations, adding that erring personnel are sanctioned accordingly.

He appealed for continued intelligence support from the Police, especially in matters beyond Customs’ operational scope, and expressed readiness for collaboration beyond formal engagements.

”We are going to continue to look for your collaboration, support and assistance from time to time.

“This partnership is not just about our agencies; it’s about the safety, unity, and progress of Nigeria,” he added.

The comptroller further commended CP Jimoh for his leadership and proactive efforts in maintaining law and order in Lagos, noting that effective synergy between the two agencies is critical in ensuring the safety and security of residents.

The visit also featured the exchange of official souvenirs and a brief closed-door meeting between both leaders, aimed at discussing actionable strategies to further institutionalize their collaboration.

The meeting reflects a broader move by security agencies in Lagos State to unify efforts in responding to rising security concerns, while fostering trust, coordination, and effectiveness in their respective mandates.
