BREAKING: GANDUJE RESIGNS AS APC NATIONAL CHAIRMAN AMID TINUBU’S DIRECTIVE

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has tendered his resignation from the party’s top leadership position, less than a year after assuming office.
Though no official statement has been released confirming the reason for his sudden exit, sources within the APC national secretariat in Abuja indicated that the resignation came at the behest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the early hours of Friday.
Signs of the development emerged early in the day when Ganduje’s aides were seen clearing his personal belongings from the party headquarters. His official portrait was also removed from the chairman’s office.
“You can see, they have removed the portrait of Ganduje from his office. Even his personal staff have been moving in and out with files and their personal properties since morning,” a party official told The Guardian under anonymity. “So it’s obvious that all is not well. We are used to this kind of thing. It happened with Adamu and Oshiomhole.”
Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State and close political ally of President Tinubu, was appointed APC national chairman on August 3, 2023, following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu. His appointment was challenged in court by the North Central APC Forum, which argued that the chairmanship should remain within the North Central geopolitical zone. The case was dismissed in September 2024 by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
In January 2025, President Tinubu appointed Ganduje as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), further cementing his continued relevance in federal political circles.
As of press time, no official announcement has been made by the APC, and efforts to reach the party’s spokespersons have been unsuccessful. However, the unfolding situation has sparked speculation of an imminent leadership reshuffle within the ruling party.
