The Ojora of Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom, Oba AbdulFatai Oyegbemi, has removed six traditional chiefs from their positions after their participation in the Labour Party campaign launch in the Apapa region of Lagos State.
The sovereign asserted that the leaders had breached palace protocol by masquerading as him at the occasion without his authorization.
The ousted leaders are: Chief Lateef Ojora (Bale Alaba Oro), Chief Saliu Biliamin (Bale Alafia Dodoro), and Chief Taiwo Hassan (Bale Oke Ira).
Others include Chief Idris Ojora (Bale Abule Kere), Chief Hakeem Oseni (Bale Mosafejo Amukoko), and Chief Sule Balogun (Balogun of Abule Kere).
The monarch’s action followed a palace held at his palace on Monday, where Oba Oyegbemi rebuked the chiefs, describing their action as unacceptable.
In a statement on Tuesday, the sacking of the chiefs was confirmed as the monarch warned that no chief in the kingdom should act on his behalf without his consent.
The declaration stated: “Subsequent to the result of this occurrence, which transpired without his prior awareness, Kabiyesi Ojora convened the Bales, Balogun, and the Ojora Councils at his historic palace for elucidation.
In a manner characterized by discontent and command, Kabiyesi asserted that the Chiefs’ conduct contravened their responsibilities. He emphasized that no Chief ought to make decisions or undertake actions on his behalf without his explicit approval, as they all exist to represent him and preserve the customs of the territory.
The pivotal initiative of removing the six Chiefs highlights his dedication to upholding stability and unity within his governance framework.
The monarch also commended the government of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for its ongoing development initiatives in his kingdom.
