(ABUBA’98 CLASS) MOURN THE TRAGIC LOSS OF MOHAMMED SANI SULAIMAN (MSS) – A CALL FOR SECURITY INTERVENTION

PRESS STATEMENT:
It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our dear classmate, Mohammed Sani Sulaiman, affectionately called MSS, whose life was tragically cut short due to the escalating insecurity in our nation. MSS lost his life on Monday, August 04, 2025 along Funtua-Gusau Road to the gruesome action of kidnappers.
MSS recently took up a new role as Regional Manager North West in Union Bank Plc covering branches in the North Western Region of the bank. He was on an assignment visiting those bank branches when this tragedy occurred. His death is a stack reminder of the urgent need for a coordinated action against the rampant insecurity situation in the country that has claimed far too many lives.
As we grieve this immense loss, we are compelled to raise the need to address the alarming state of insecurity that has claimed countless lives, including that of our beloved friend.
In the face of this tragedy, we offer our condolences to the family and friends of MSS while efforts are being coordinated to support the immediate family at this difficult time.. However, our collective grief must not be in vain. We believe it is imperative for our Class and the wider community to speak out against the pervasive insecurity that has plagued our country.

KEY DEMANDS:
1. Immediate Government Intervention
We call upon the Federal and State Governments to take decisive and effective measures to address the root causes of insecurity in our land, ensuring the safety and protection of all citizens.
2. Enhanced Security Measures
We urge the implementation of robust security strategies that prioritize the protection of human life and property, particularly in vulnerable communities.
3. Support for Victims’ Families
We request that the Federal in conjunction with the State Government provides adequate support and compensation to the families of victims of insecurity, acknowledging their suffering and loss.

CALL TO ACTION
We implore our fellow citizens, civil society organizations, and all stakeholders to join us in demanding for a meaningful change. Our silence in the face of such tragedies can no longer be sustained. We owe it to MSS and others who have lost their lives in similar circumstances, their families and ourselves to raise our voices against the insecurity that threatens our very existence.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of MSS. May they find strength and solace in this difficult time to bear this irreparable loss. We pray that the Almighty grants them patience and peace.

Together, we can advocate for a safer Nigeria. We urge everyone to stand with us in this moment of sorrow and outrage, demanding that our leaders take concrete actions to protect us all.
