POLICE RESTORE CALM AFTER MOB CLASH IN ONOSA COMMUNITY, LAGOS

The Lagos State Police Command says it has restored calm to Onosa Community in the Elemoro area of Lagos following a violent confrontation between officers and an irate mob in the early hours of Friday, August 29, 2025.

According to the Command, six officers from the Elemoro Division were on routine patrol when they encountered the mob. In an attempt to secure their safety, the officers discharged their firearms, leaving three individuals injured. The victims were immediately taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, led a team of officers to the scene in a swift intervention that cleared barricades and restored the free flow of traffic. He also engaged with youths and community leaders to ease tensions and pledged sustained dialogue to prevent a recurrence.

The officers involved in the shooting have been taken into custody as investigations begin. The Command assured that a “thorough and transparent inquiry” will be carried out to establish the facts of the incident.

While normalcy has returned to the area, police presence remains to maintain peace and order. The Command urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with law enforcement, and avoid actions that could threaten public safety.
