Onyinyechi Basil, representing Anambra State, has emerged as Miss Universe Nigeria 2025, following a thrilling finale that lit up Lagos on Saturday night.
She claimed the crown after going head-to-head with Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, who finished as first runner-up.
Miss Bayelsa, Fortune Kurobo, secured the position of second runner-up, while Miss Ogun, Irene Ikediashi, placed third runner-up. Rounding out the top five was Miss Akwa Ibom, Idah Eno, who was also crowned Miss Supranational Nigeria 2025.
Out of 22 contestants who began the journey, only 10 reached the final stages, including Miss Delta, De-Blessing Asaboro; Miss Ekiti, Ezekiel Silver; Miss Imo, Chukwukereobi Chinaza; Miss Ebonyi, Ugoaru Onuoha; and Miss Oyo, Lagoke Funmike.
The event was a spectacle of culture, glamour, and entertainment. The traditional attire showcase highlighted Nigeria’s cultural richness with modern twists on local fabrics, while the swimwear round emphasized body confidence and inclusivity. Choreographed dance performances set an electrifying tone for the evening.
Voting statistics released by the Nigerian Franchise revealed Miss Delta, De-Blessing Asaboro, as the public’s favorite with 38,319 votes, followed by Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, with 34,033 votes, and Miss Ekiti, Ezekiel Silver, with 28,074 votes.
The grand finale, hosted by Anthony Abraham and Victory Wilson, attracted a vibrant audience and trended widely on social media as fans awaited the announcement of the new queen.
Basil now succeeds Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, Chidinma Adetshina, and will represent the country on the global stage at the Miss Universe pageant later this year.
