FUNKE AKINDELE, CELEBRITIES RALLY BEHIND HILDA BACI’S WORLD RECORD JOLLOF ATTEMPT

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, on Friday joined a host of celebrities at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, to support Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, as she embarked on her latest challenge cooking the world’s largest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice.
Akindele, who drew loud cheers from the crowd with her dance before addressing them, hailed Baci’s resilience, patience, and determination.
“For a woman, a young lady hustling, to break the world record that is no small feat. Hilda, congratulations to you. Now, she wants to break another record, and she will break it in Jesus’ name,” Akindele declared.
The actress urged young women to look beyond beauty and embrace hard work, stressing that true success lies in resilience and creativity.
“I love Hilda because she’s beautiful, intelligent, and hardworking. To all the young ladies here, you can look beautiful, but you must hustle, you must do something special for yourself,” she said.
Akindele further commended Baci’s consistent support for her colleagues and friends. “Hilda always shows up. I told myself, no matter how tired you are, get up and be here today to support her,” she added.
Later, Akindele joined Baci in the kitchen, stirring the tomato base for the Jollof alongside the First Lady of Ogun State, Bamidele Abiodun.
Other celebrities who graced the event included Kaffy, Tomike Adeoye, Enioluwa, Veekee James, Femi Atere, Samuel Banks, Alex Unusual, and Folagbade Banks.
Baci, who gained global recognition in 2023 after breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon with a 93-hour effort, disclosed that her latest challenge involves a 22,619-litre custom-made pot.
She explained that achieving her goal of filling the pot up to 80 percent would require about 5,278 kilogrammes of basmati rice, estimated at 250 bags.
The ongoing attempt has turned the Eko Hotel venue into a carnival-like atmosphere, with music, dance, and celebrity appearances adding to the excitement.
