The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, Ajibola Joseph, popularly known as “Dejavoo,” over alleged involvement in multiple cases of burglary, armed robbery, and gunrunning in the Ayetoro area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Friday, noting that it followed a surge in burglary-related complaints from residents.
According to Odutola, Joseph was apprehended in the early hours of Thursday at about 1:00 a.m. in Idagba community after a coordinated surveillance operation.
She described the suspect as “a burglar, armed robber, and gunman” linked to several high-profile crimes in the area.
One of the most recent incidents, she said, occurred on September 9, when Joseph allegedly broke into the home of Waheed Akande at Igbole Aibo. CCTV footage reportedly captured him vandalising cables, destroying pumping machines, and carting away ₦1.5 million.
The police spokesperson added that the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation after preliminary interrogation at the divisional level.
The command recalled that in April, a similar arrest was made when a 31-year-old man, Lukpata Micheal, was apprehended for allegedly breaking into a house in the Igode area, destroying property, and stealing valuables worth ₦2.6 million.
