DISAPPOINTING RUN PROMPTS GOVERNOR OTTI TO APPOINT NEW ENYIMBA COACH

The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has approved the appointment of Deutsch Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel as the new Head Coach of Enyimba International Football Club, Aba.
The appointment was announced on Monday by the Abia State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, in a statement made available to journalists.
Kanu noted that Enyimba, Nigeria and Africa’s most successful football club, has fallen short of its traditional standards in recent times. He said the Otti-led administration is committed to repositioning the club with a focus on professionalism, sustainability, and sound corporate governance.
According to the statement, the appointment of Coach Deutsch Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel forms part of a broader strategy to rejuvenate the club’s technical department, boost its competitive strength, and establish a solid foundation for long-term success.
The new head coach is described as a seasoned football tactician who holds CAF A, B, and C coaching licences. He has previously served as Technical Adviser and Head Coach for several reputable clubs in Nigeria and Cameroon, achieving notable success. His accolades include the Nigeria National League (NNL) Best Coach Award in 2025.
Governor Otti expressed confidence that Coach Deutsch’s experience, technical expertise, and professional discipline will play a key role in Enyimba’s rebuilding process.
It will be recalled that Enyimba had, last week, appointed former Crown FC coach, Deji Ayeni, as head coach but still suffered a 2–0 defeat away to Niger Tornadoes of Minna.
