ANAMBRA STATE LOSES N8BN EVERY MONDAY AMID SIT-AT-HOME – OFFICIAL

Anambra State loses an estimated N8 billion every Monday due to sit-at-home orders, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefoh, has revealed.
Mefoh made the disclosure on Tuesday during an interview with the media. He was speaking in the context of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s shutdown of Onitsha market.
“Initially, the sit-at-home was driven by fear, but that is no longer the case. Security in Anambra has been largely restored for months and even years, so the fear factor is gone,” Mefoh explained.

He added that over time, traders have turned Mondays into an extension of their weekend, with market closures severely affecting the state’s socio-economic activities.
“Statistics indicate that Anambra loses an average of N8 billion every Monday the markets are shut. This is very serious. From this perspective, the government has a responsibility to keep the economy running, and those opposing it are simply being mischievous,” he said.
