NAF PLEDGES CONTINUED SAFEGUARDING OF NIGER DELTA ASSETS

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) dedication to protecting critical oil and gas infrastructure in the Niger Delta.
He made the statement during a strategic operational visit to the NAF Base in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he commissioned key infrastructure projects and inspected vital operational facilities.
According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, the CAS visited the 115 Special Operations Group and inaugurated newly constructed and renovated facilities, including a modern briefing room complex and additional buildings aimed at improving operational planning, command coordination, and administrative efficiency.

Air Marshal Aneke also inspected essential operational infrastructure, such as the runway, VIP aprons, aircraft hangar, and the NAF Hospital.
During the visit, he paid a courtesy call to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, expressing appreciation for the state government’s ongoing support of the Nigerian Air Force in Rivers State.
He acknowledged several contributions from the government, including the handover of an Agusta 139 helicopter, rehabilitation and resurfacing of the runway and aprons at NAF Base Port Harcourt, issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy for the Base, and provision of two blocks of twelve two-bedroom residential units for NAF personnel.
“These interventions have significantly enhanced the Air Force’s operational readiness and its ability to respond effectively to emerging security challenges in the Niger Delta,” he stated.
In response, Governor Fubara reaffirmed the Rivers State Government’s commitment to sustaining its collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies to ensure peace and stability in the state.
