Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja has ordered that siblings Abubakar Aliyu and Abdullahi Aliyu be remanded in a correctional facility over the alleged theft of goods worth N35 million belonging to their elder brother.
The defendants were arraigned on Wednesday by the police on a three-count charge involving conspiracy, conversion, stealing, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
When the case, marked ID/268/2C/2026, was called, the prosecution, represented by SP Umar Bello, and the defence counsel, Mr P.O. Ohikhena, appeared in court. Mr Roland Deji held a watching brief for the complainant.
Urging the court to proceed, Bello said, “My Lord, the matter is for arraignment. We are ready to proceed and request the court to allow the defendants to enter their plea.”

The prosecutor alleged that the siblings conspired in 2020 at the departure wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, to steal bags, necklaces, jewellery, clothing, and shoes valued at N35 million. Bello stated, “The stolen items belong to their elder brother, Alhaji Rabiu Aliyu, and the defendants converted the proceeds for personal use.”
Bello further claimed that the defendants blocked the complainant from accessing his airport shop, engaging in conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. He added that their actions violated Sections 411, 313, 314, 168(d), and 365(3)(e) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
The siblings pleaded not guilty to the charges. Following their plea, Bello requested a trial date and asked the court to remand the defendants until any bail application is filed. Defence counsel Ohikhena did not make a bail request.
In her ruling, Justice Dada ordered, “The defendants are hereby remanded at the correctional centre pending the filing and hearing of their bail application.” The court adjourned the case to April 22, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
